James Robert "Bob" Farmer, age 70, of Powder Springs, Georgia passed away February 23, 2011. Funeral Service were held 2pm Saturday, February 26, 2011 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Rev. Ray Vaughn officiating.
Born in Marietta, GA, Mr. Farmer lived in San Diego, CA for a number of years before moving back to Powder Springs 42 years ago. He owned and operated Secure Tire Company, with locations in Buckhead and Sandy Springs, then retired from Parrish Tire Company of Carrollton. He was also a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. Mr. Farmer served as a councilman for the City of Powder Springs for 14 years, including terms as Mayor Pro Tem for Pat Vaughn and Bobby Waters, and a 6 month term as Mayor. He was active in many organizations, including the Jaycees, The Lion's Club, the American Legion, the Shriner's, and was a member of Springville Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include: Wife of 48 years, Nancy Farmer; Son, Robert (Greta) Farmer, Powder Springs, GA; Daughter, Kathy (Scott) Schell, Richmond Hill, GA; 2 Brothers, David (Sharon) Farmer, Douglasville, GA, and Tom Farmer, Cordova, TN; 5 Grandchildren, Katie and Jacob Farmer, and Nicholas, Savannah and Tyler Schell.
