Iris Danielle James was born on March 26, 1988, the second of seven children born to Brian and Janice James. She was homeschooled from kindergarten through high school. After graduation, she continued her education and became a certified nursing assistant. Later, she earned an associate nursing degree from West Georgia Technical College and was licensed as a Registered Nurse. A few years later, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Columbus State University. Her nursing career in local hospitals included Emory Adventist, Smyrna, GA, North Fulton Hospital, and Grady Hospital Emergency Room. Since June 2022, Iris was on the nursing staff at First Care Women's Clinic (a pro-life Pregnancy Resource Center). She loved being a part of saving the lives of children.
To her parents and siblings, Iris was an amazing daughter and sister. Iris was always willing to listen. She was often the life of the party and was never at a loss for words. Some of her favorite past-times were spending time with friends, Karaoke, concerts, playing piano, spending time at the beach, international travel, and cooking for friends. She was a great story-teller, and we could count on her to recount details we might forget. Iris loved children and especially being an aunt.
As a child, Iris trusted Jesus as her Savior and reaffirmed her faith in Christ in recent years. She loved to worship the Lord with music and singing and was on the Praise Team of Excel Church.
On September 20, 2023, Iris went home to be with the Lord. She leaves to cherish her memory her parents, Brian and Janice James, siblings, Charissa Lawal (Idris), Daniel James (Taylor), Valerie Broxterman (Austin), Jennifer James, Allison James, and Hannah James; Grandparents, Lloyd Young, and Joyce Verret; niece, Olivia James; Aunts, Marcia Verret, Maria Douglas (Ronald), Sandra Bennett (Gilbert), Bernita Verret; Uncles, Wayne James, Leo Verret, Jr., and Ellis Verret; and a host of extended family, and friends. Iris was predeceased by her grandparents; Orelia Young, Leo Verret, Sr., and Tyre James.
