After a long and honorable fight, Howard Overhalser, 71, passed away in the early hours of June 2, 2023 at Kennestone Hospital. He lived a rewarding life as a dedicated and caring husband, brother, father, and grandfather.
On July 5, 1951, Howard was born to Frank and Mary Overhalser in the state of Kentucky. Raised in Louisiana and later moving to Georgia, he had the pleasure of experiencing a lot of the South in his younger years and had the elaborate stories and exciting experiences to prove it. His tales of driving fast cars, running from bulls in his Keds, pulling pranks on the military base and so much more were guaranteed to put a smile on anyone’s face.
Howard’s passions centered around the outdoors as he spent copious amounts of time exploring nature from a very young age. From finding fun with his siblings on his grandparent’s farm to patiently waiting in deer stands in South Georgia with his own son, he soaked up any opportunity to be in the wild, learn more, and share his knowledge with others.
Those left to cherish his memory and hilarious “Howard-isms” include his wife, Elaine; his children, Sonya, Nichole, Rachel, and Matthew; his grandchildren, Kaylee, Aidan, Mason, Addie, Conner, Adam, and Ava; his siblings, Georgie, Mary Lou, Elaine, and Joe. He is preceded in death by his father, Frank; his mother, Mary; and his granddaughter, Timber.
His courage and will to fight will live on through his family, friends, and anyone who had the pleasure to be in his presence. He will be deeply missed.
