Harvey C. Warner

October 31, 1921 — September 22, 2016

Harvey C. Warner, age 94, of Smyrna, GA passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016. Funeral Services will be held 9:30am Wednesday, September 28th at West Cobb Funeral Home in Marietta with Rev. Martin Benton officiating. Burial will follow at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born in Yorktown, IN, Mr. Warner served in various Christian ministries across the United States. He consulted with the Church of the Apostles in Atlanta, served at Walk Thru the Bible Ministries, and was a former Director of Development for In Touch Ministries. He also was Editor for the National Association of Evangelicals in Wheaton, IL, served at Child Evangelism Fellowship, and served as an Administrative Pastor in several churches.
Mr. Warner was himself, a man of faith, who believed in trusting God in other people. He saw potential in others and was a natural encourager. He was committed to Truth, while he practiced grace. His tremendous optimism had its greatest challenge when his sweet wife developed ALS. “Caring for her was never a burden”, he insisted.
Harvey Warner was successful, not because of his many accomplishments, but because he was a principled man of God, an inspirational mentor with steadfast personal standards. He was a man of personal integrity, generous, intuitive, loving and insightful. He “walked the walk,” he lived his faith. And, he would have been a bit embarrassed to read this paragraph in his obituary, because he was such a humble man.
Harvey C. had some great quips:
Women civilize men.
You marry the family.
The problem is, no one is being raised by experienced parents… you are just learning on the first two.
Harvey was a grammarian extraordinaire, with a fondness for chocolate. The chocolate thing was big. So big, that colleagues decided the “C” in Harvey C., must denote chocolate. He never disabused them of that idea, and the actual name remains a guarded secret.
Mr. Warner continued to learn and grow throughout his life. His love for God and joyful spirit were evident even as his health declined. In his final days, while in clear physical distress, his grandson asked how he was. “Dandy fine,” he replied.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Warner, son, Paul Warner, and grandson, Rick Warner.
Survivors:
Jan Warner, Boulder, CO (Paul Warner’s widow)
Steven (Lorrie) Warner, Dekalb, IL
Daniel (Suzanne) Warner, Erie, CO
Elisabeth (Alfredo) Tovi, Smyrna, GA
Harvey and Geraldine had 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
