Harold Rakestraw, of Cobb County, passed away peacefully in his sleep into the loving arms of Jesus on April 17 after a long illness. He graduated from Osborne High School in 1977, marrying his sweetheart and having 2 kids. Harold had a passion for cooking, fishing, bowling and dachshunds. He loved going to the beach anytime he could find the time. Long time restaurateur, he started his career at Campbells Restaurant in Smyrna, Ga. He later ran the Whistle Stop Cafe in Downtown Kennesaw. He was the owner of the Kennesaw Diner and the Whistle Stop Café both on Hwy 41 and the Whistle Stop Express in Cartersville. Harold loved being a father and spending time with his children. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and cooking with his family.
Harold is survived by his children Daniel Rakestraw, Sheila Rakestraw, and his two granddaughters, Olivia and Ruby. Siblings, Monica Brock, Stan and Norman. Preceded in death by his parents Billy J. and Leonie, and his brother Wendall Gary.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
