Grady Thomas Tibbitts

Mr. Grady Thomas Tibbitts, age 88, of Marietta passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 2 pm in the Chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory, Marietta with Pastor Ralph Lowther officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Christian Church in Dallas.
Mr. Tibbitts was one of 6 children and the only child to be born in a hospital. His mother named him “Grady” after Grady Hospital where he was born in 1923. He lived in Cobb County for over 50 years. He loved hunting and fishing and passed his love and knowledge of both sports to his nieces and nephews. He also loved his dogs and playing poker. He finished school in the 9th grade and then worked as a sharecropper with his parents until he joined the United States Marine Corps. After the Marines, he was employed as boiler maker with Rheem Heating and Air.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Lois Tibbitts. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews: Danny Jackson, Tracy Jackson, Jason Jackson, Jessica Howard, Leah Jackson and Sintoria Jackson and great-great nephew, Landon Jackson and very good and faithful friend, Gerald Eisterhold.
