Gordon Anderson Dowis, age 65, of Dallas, Georgia passed away November 1, 2020. Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Arlington Memorial Park in Atlanta with Rev. Billy Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Atlanta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by Daddy Grant and Momma Dee and Robert and Nancy Dowis.
A native of Atlanta, GA, Mr. Dowis had moved to Dallas, GA from Marietta. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked as a teacher, educating students in auto repair. He was also involved in may organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, the Atlanta Wooden Boat Association, the Georgia Doberman Rescue, the Georgia Chapter of Liver Foundation, Guest Brothers Racing, and enjoyed short track racing. He was a member of One Baptist Church.
Survivors include: 3 Sons, Gordon Dowis Jr. and wife Lynne Dowis, Cartersville, GA, Geoffrey Dowis, Dallas, GA and Luke Dowis, Dallas, GA; Sister, Patricia Ferguson; Brother, Bob Dowis; 2 Grandchildren, Johnathon Dowis and Brayden Dowis; life long friend, Sharon Pratt, close friends, Jesse Guest, racing partner, Larry Lane AKA Crash, Tommy TJ Thomason, Sadie Irvine, Jeff and Doug Bailey, Donna Drisko, Angela Rice, Lisa Strickland, Sky Couture and many other friends and associates.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gordon Dowis's memory to Liver Transplant Services or One Baptist Church.
