June loved people, and people loved June! She loved to talk and never met a stranger. It didn't take long for her to start calling you "honey" or "sweetie". She said many times, "to have a friend, you must be a friend". And have friends she did!
She had a magnetic personality that people were drawn to. Those that became close friends actually became like family. For years, she enjoyed traveling with friends to various destinations. They always had great times and many fun stories to share when they would return.
She had a gift of preparing a large, home cooked meal with ease, or whipping up a prize deserving cake or pie. She has baked countless cakes and goodies for so many people. She was the essence of a true southern cook and had compiled the recipes to show that. They have been shared and enjoyed with so many people.
She received great joy in her generous spirit she shared with people. From one of her good home cooked meals, to a beautifully wrapped gift she gave much thought to. She loved giving and doing for others. As much as she loved people, though, she loved her family more than anything.
She had an amazing eye for decorating, her home was always beautifully arranged, some would say a showcase. And those that entered always felt a warm welcome and love. She loved to entertain and have people over, she had the gift of hospitality. Her Christmas Open House she hosted for many years, was the ultimate favorite. So many people looked forward to attending every year.
She always made the house "come alive" with all the Christmas decorations she collected over the years. And the spread of food she would put out would be unbelievable. Christmas was her favorite time of the year.
She was a member of Hurt Road Baptist Church in Smyrna, where she had many friends. She loved the Wednesday night dinners, she looked forward to making one of her delicious recipes to share.
Her spiritual gift was loving and doing for others, like Jesus tells us to do. It came natural for her. And my her living testimony, we know Jesus will say to her, "Well done, my good and faithful servant".
