Gladys E. Calhoun

Gladys Emma Calhoun, 91, of Powder Springs passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday in the Chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home in Marietta, GA with Bishop Jim Bolin officiating. Interment will follow at Powder Springs Memorial Park Cemetery. Born in Marietta, GA, Mrs. Calhoun retired from Fulton National Bank in Atlanta. She served in ministry with her late husband while he was the State Youth Director for the Church of God in Ohio, and pastor of the largest Church of God in Ohio in the 1960’s. Upon returning to her home state of Georgia, the two opened the Lithia Christian Center in Lithia Springs, GA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Voin S. Calhoun Sr. and Grandson, Christopher Brenning Calhoun. Survivors: Sons, Michael (Pam) Calhoun, Powder Springs; Voin (Ronda) Calhoun Jr., Powder Springs and Derek (Susan) Calhoun, Marietta; Sister, Rita (Chuck) Matthews, Covington; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
