Georgia Marie Scoggins, age 76, of Mableton, GA passed away Friday, September 8, 2017. Funeral Services will be held 2pm Wednesday, September 13th at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta. Burial will follow at Powder Springs Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born in Atlanta, Mrs. Scoggins lived in Mableton for most of her life. She graduated from Georgia State University with a Master’s Degree in music, voice and piano. She retired from the Douglas County School System after 30 years as a Special Education Teacher, with an emphasis on mentally and physically impaired children. Mrs. Scoggins was an accomplished pianist, sang with Opera Atlanta, and was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joel Arthur Scoggins, a son, Joel Bradley Scoggins, and a sister, Martha Primm.
