Gayle Ann Higbee, age 62, passed away on Sunday October 7, 2018 in her home surrounded by her loved ones, after a year-long battle with ovarian cancer. She was born in East Lansing, Michigan to Richard and Dorothy (Richards) Higbee and was the 2nd of 3 children. Shortly after, her parents moved to Toledo, Ohio where she spent most of her happy childhood. She graduated from the University of Utah with a B.A. in English and went on to become a paralegal after completing the National Center for Paralegal Training program.
Gayle had a passion for dogs and was always wiling to adopt the unwanted and abandoned. Her love for travel took her to places all over the U.S. and Europe in the company of her beloved friends. Some of her favorite places were as close as Asheville, N.C. and as far away as France, Italy and Greece. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, thoughtful nature and her willingness to go out of her way for friends and family. She is survived by her brother, Gary; her sister, Janet; her 2 nieces, 1 nephew, 1 grandniece and 5 grandnephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for her on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory. Please join the family in remembrance of Gayle, and the joy she brought to everyone's lives. In lieu of flowers, Gayle would wish for you to donate to a non-profit animal rescue and adoption organization such as Mostly Mutts, Best Friends Animal Society, Angels Among Us Pet Rescue or any other you might prefer.
