Gary Ray Moll, age 84, passed away on April 30, 2023, in Powder Springs, Georgia, due to cardiac arrest due to covid complications. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta, Georgia.
Gary is survived by his wife Tommie Neal and by his three children, Brian (Mary) Moll of Kennesaw, GA, Tracy Douglas of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, and Debbie (Tom) Magee of Acworth, GA; his seven grandchildren, Ryan and Lauren Moll, Ashlei and Jonathan Douglas and Jessica, Evan and Ansley Magee; his sister Karen and brother-in-law John Duncan. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Virgil and Margaret Moll.
Gary was born in 1939 in Lakewood, OH and raised in Rocky River, OH. He graduated in 1957 from Rocky River High School. He attended the University of Miami, OH, graduating in 1962 with a degree in Business.
Gary joined the Marines after college and was a member of the Third Battalion, Platoon 340. He was honorably discharged in 1968 as a Sergeant with the Rifle Marksman badge.
After his military service, Gary went to work for Republic Steel in Cleveland OH. In 1982, Gary and his family moved to Marietta, GA, when Gary took a position as a Buyer for Lockheed Georgia on various projects including the C-130 and C5B airplanes.
Gary retired in 2004 from Lockheed. He married Tommie Neal in 2005 and they resided in Powder Springs, GA along with their beloved cats Molly and Leo. They were happy to have Tommie's children Susan Vannoy and Andy Neal close by.
Gary enjoyed spending his youth summers in Canada working at his family's lodge where he learned to fish for fresh water fish. He was an avid sports fan, with baseball as his favorite sport. He loved watching his grandchildren's athletic games and taking them to lunch. He was blessed with long term friendships with Clegg Green and Bob Earl which meant the world to him. Gary was a lymphoma cancer survivor and very proud of it. Gary was an enthusiastic follower of Auburn University football (WDE) and enjoyed going to games with his grandchildren.
Above all else, Gary loved his family and friends deeply. He was an incredible father, grandfather and husband and would always put his family first. He was cherished by all those he touched and will be missed greatly.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, Georgia.
