Garry E. Jones, age 53, of Powder Springs went to meet his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 31, 2013. A Celebration of his life will be held at 2pm on Friday, September 6th at West Cobb Church with Pastor Ken Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Cheatham Hill Cemetery in Marietta. He will lie in state at the church 1 hour prior to the service.
A lifelong resident of Cobb County, Garry was a 1977 graduate and former band member of John E. McEachern High School, and was active in the band’s Booster Club for many years. He was a former board member of the West Cobb Girls Softball Association at Lost Mountain and an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. His career started with the Local 72, and then he worked at Lucent Technologies. He was currently working as the Senior Manager for Pro Sports in Powder Springs. He was an active member of West Cobb Church and served on the Creative Arts Team where he took pride in running the lights.
He is preceded in death by his father, Paul E. Jones and is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Tamara Jones of Powder Springs; mother, Helen Jones of Marietta; daughters, Brittany Jones of Athens and Laura Beth Jones of Hiram; sister, Suzanne (Scott) Cass of Perkiomenville, PA; father-in-law, George McManious; 2 brothers-in-law, Bill Dull, Jr. and Jason (Danielle) Dull; sister-in-law, Angela (David) Bauer; niece, Ryan Dull; nephews, Nick Venables, Noah Bauer and Dylan Dull; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins and 2 grand dogs, Rascal & Tucker.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Creative Arts Lighting Fund at West Cobb Church, 1245 Villa Rica Road SW, Marietta GA 30064. The family will receive friends on Wednesday and Thursday from 5pm until 8pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta.
