Chief Master Sergeant Frederick James McKenna IV, left this earthly life suddenly Thursday, April 21, 2011. He was 46.
Born in Pittsburgh, Kansas, “Jimmy” was raised in Fredericksburg, VA. He graduated from Stafford Senior High School where his passion was athletics. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as an Aircrew Life Support Technician and was assigned to Okinawa, Japan. During his first enlistment he completed his Bachelor’s Degree at Southern Illinois University. Jimmy served the Air Force and Air Force Reserves in multiple capacities, ultimately as a Life Support Superintendent. Jimmy was highly decorated and received numerous accolades and awards. He participated in NATO Operations in Europe and served in several conflicts including Operations Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, Southern Watch, and Northern Watch.
Jimmy touched so many lives in positive ways and was generous beyond compare. He was a loyal patriot, loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. Survivors include his mother Sharon McKenna of Fredericksburg VA; wife, Kristin (Blackwelder); sons Jimmy McKenna of Fredericksburg VA., Evan McKenna of Marietta GA.; daughters Chloe and Laney McKenna; Sisters Suzanne(Scott) Shahan of King George County, VA., Kim (Bill) Morgan of Scottsboro, AL., Brother Sean Mckenna of Fredericksburg, VA., Nephew Bill Morgan of Marietta, GA; numerous other beloved nieces and nephews and dear friends.
The family will receive friends at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta on Tuesday from 5pm-8pm. A service will follow in the Chapel at 8pm. Burial will follow at a later date in Quantico National Cemetery in Virginia. Online guest book
