Fred H. Huddleston (August 18, 1938 - March 30, 2018)
Fred H. Huddleston, at the age of 79, from San Antonio, Texas, currently residing in Dallas, Georgia, passed away after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Fred passed away peacefully on Friday, March 30, 2018, and was surrounded by immediate loved ones in the cozy familiarity of his own home.
Fred was an only child born in San Antonio, Texas, to Fred Hummert Huddleston and Maria Raab.
Fred served in the U.S. Air Force as a Captain. He graduated from South Texas State with a Bachelor Degree in Education and Geology. He continued his pursuit of higher education with a Masters in Education and Science Degree, along with an Administrative Certificate in Education at Kingsville AandM.
He devoted most of his professional life to teaching kids at the high school level, in the Harlandale Independent School District. Fred worked his way up to the Department head of Social Studies at McCollum High School and the Principal of Summer School, before eventually retiring. Aside from teaching, Fred was also a small business owner on two separate occasions. His various small business ventures fell out of his two beloved passions for stained glass making and hobby trains. His third passion was traveling the world, as he left behind a fully stamped, well-worn passport.
Nicknamed as "Poppy" or "Grandpa Fred" by his grandchildren, Fred was extremely devoted to his family. He was always there for each and every one of his family members, whether it was for a special occasion, repairing household items, moving someone, or building home improvements. Fred was always willing to help out anyway that he could.
Fred is survived by his loving and devoted family, wife, Jacquelyn Huddleston, his son Fred H. Huddleston II and his wife Mila Huddleston; his daughters Kelly Mendoza, Misty Smith and her husband Lance Smith; along with multiple beloved grandkids Anastasia and Kristina Huddleston, Nick and Chris Mendoza and Avery Smith; as well as his Aunt Loretta Huddleston and numerous cousins.
A funeral service will be held at the Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church 4425 Macland Road, Hiram, Georgia 30141 on Friday April 6th at 4:00 pm. (770) 943-0330
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Martin Luther College 1995 Luther Court New Ulm, MN 56073.
