Franklin “Don” Kilgore, age 80, of Powder Springs, GA passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Rev. Hugh Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge, GA.
Born in Atlanta, Mr. Kilgore lived in Mississippi for many years before moving back to Powder Springs, GA. He retired from General Motors after 34 years of employment and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. Mr. Kilgore was a member of Jackson Hill Baptist Church in Atlanta, and enjoyed many hobbies, including antique cars, coin and clock collections, NASCAR, Civil War history, and was formerly a dirt car racer and sponsored a team in Mississippi.
Survivors include his companion, Sandra G. Johnson of Powder Springs, sons, Lance D. Kilgore of Morrow, GA and Ronald Lee Kilgore; sister, Peggy J. Boss of Ohio and grandchildren, Angela S. Chambers and Ryan J. Fausett.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5pm until 8pm at the funeral home.
