Francis Leo LaClair, age 88, of Powder Springs, GA passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Nativity Lutheran Church in Austell with Pastor Dena Lane officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6pm until 8pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, GA. Inurnment will follow at 1:30pm on Monday, May 7th at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
Mr. LaClair was born on August 5, 1929 in St. Lawrence County, New York. He was a U.S. veteran having been a member of the U. S. Air Force for 4 years, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant during the Korean War. After his military service, he worked in the aluminum industry for ALCOA and Reynolds Aluminum in Massena, NY. Then for many years he worked in the construction industry, notably with the Morrison Knudsen Company where he was involved in such major projects as the building of the Defense Early Warning System in North Dakota and Montana, opening a new oil field near Prudeau Bay, Alaska, and the building of the subway system in Washington, D.C. He retired to Mableton, GA in 1993. Mr. LaClair and his wife Pat traveled extensively in their retirement years, making many trips across the United States. They also traveled to Nova Scotia, Egypt, throughout Europe, to Hawaii, and the Caribbean Islands. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Buddy LaClair, Carl LaClair, Rita LaRoch, Elaine LaMarch, Jean Grant, Joyce Normile and Keith LaClair, and a stepson, Michael Falkenhagen.

LaClair, Winthrop, NY; 2 Sisters, Betty Mooney, Deland, FL and Ruth Thompson, Potsdam, NY; 12 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild.
