Frances H. Davenport

Frances H. Davenport, 75, of Marietta, GA, passed away Friday October 7, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 in the Chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Pastor Calvin Tibbs officiating. There will also be a visitation and service at White's Chapel United Methodist Church in Drake, KY on Wednesday, October 12, 2011. Visitation will begin at 10am with the service beginning at 12pm. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Born in Layfette, TN, Mrs. Davenport moved to Marietta 35 years ago from Bowling Green, KY. She was retired from Bellsouth where she was employed as a telephone operator and was Vice-President of the Union. She was a member of White’s Chapel, a member of CWA (union) and the American Legion Friends. Frances was the epitome of a mother, friend and a lady. Mrs. Davenport was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Davenport. Survivors include her children, Janet Smith of Austell, GA, John Davenport of Marietta, GA, Jack Davenport of Dallas, GA and Jeff Davenport of Marietta, GA; siblings, Hillis Hargis of Kentucky, Kenneth Hargis of Kentucky and Velva Barnes of Indiana; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild.
