'Evelyn Grace Wigley passed on the evening of February 27. She was known to all as 'Gran'. Born in Kentucky, she and her partner in crime, her sister Patsy, lived and laughed their way from New York to Savannah. She married the love of her life, WWII vet Hayward Allen Sr, and was a wonderful mother to her son Hayward Allen Jr. She loved Savannah and the Georgia coast, but she moved closer to Metro Atlanta to be near her family. She was the kindest, most loving person, making a friend of everyone she met. She was a second grandmother to every young person she knew, sharing her home, her company, and her incredible cooking. She is survived by her son, daughter-in-law, grandsons, granddaughters-in-law, and two great granddaughters, one of whom bears her name. She loved silk scarves, Georgia Tech football, war movies, and an afternoon cocktail. She was independent, but always welcoming. She traveled the world, but never lost sight of home. She lived many years, but never grew old. The world lost one of the best people it ever created, but we know now she's laughing with her sister and dancing to Moon River with her husband. That's our Gran.'
