Esther Lee Walker, age 95, of Mableton, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021. She was born Easter Sunday, April 12, 1925 in Demorest, Georgia. She grew up and lived most of her life in Atlanta and Mableton, Georgia.
There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in Marietta, Georgia at 2:00 p.m. Dr. Randal Whitten will be officiating. West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta is handling the arrangements.
Esther married Robert E. Walker, Sr. on February 13, 1942 and they were married 77 years until his passing in October 2019. They spent their lives together giving to and taking care of others.
Esther had a long work life and held many different positions but bookkeeping was her main occupation. She was a good and loyal employee wherever she worked. Her last position was with Quick Thrift where she worked up into her late 80's.
Esther loved music and was a faithful choir member for many years at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church. She also enjoyed cooking. She loved cooking food to give as gifts, especially at Christmastime. She and Robert also enjoyed having people in their home to share a meal. Her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, reading and taking trips to the beach.
Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were of utmost importance to her. She loved them dearly and they loved her. She always made time for each of them.
Esther has now been reunited in heaven with Robert, a baby girl, grandson Darrin L. Walker and a host of family and friends.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory one brother (Kenneth Doby), two children, Bob (Mary) Walker, Penny (Bill) Chambers, six grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, 4 nieces and 1 nephew along with many other family members and friends.
