Ernestine Louise Stokes, born on February 11, 1953, peacefully departed from this world on December 6, 2024, in Carrollton, Georgia. Throughout her life, Ernestine exemplified a profound love for her family and, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
As a devoted mother, Ernestine is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Vego of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Mona Lisa Whitman of Maysville, Kentucky. Her enduring affection extended beyond her children to her beloved dog, Tia Marie Stokes, underscoring her affinity for animals, which was a cherished part of her life.
In addition to her immediate family, Ernestine’s legacy is carried on by her siblings, including her sister Cathy Quinn of Decatur, Georgia, and brothers Edward (Autumn) Jones and Robert (Nancy) Jones, both of Villa Rica, Georgia, as well as her brother Michael Quinn of Decatur, Georgia. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. These relationships were a testament to her nurturing nature and the deep bonds she formed throughout her life.
Ernestine was predeceased by her parents Ernest and Clara Louise Quinn, husband, Edward Stokes, and her daughter Jeannie Shumake, whose memories will forever remain a part of her story. She also mourned the loss of her sisters, Sue Arp and Violet Hood, each of whom played significant roles in her life.
Beyond family ties, Ernestine's vibrant spirit thrived through her interests. She found joy in nature, particularly through a passion for flowers, bringing beauty into her surroundings. Her love of animals mirrored her compassionate spirit, which welcomed all beings with kindness.
Ernestine's life was characterized by unwavering love, resilience, and an ability to bring people together. The impact she made on those around her will be lovingly remembered. Her legacy endures not only in her family but in the cherished memories shared by friends and loved ones alike.
