Ernest "Ernie" Millsaps, 66, of Powder Springs died Saturday, May 9, 2020. Ernie was born on March 12, 1954 and resided in Cobb County throughout his life. He was larger than life, both figuratively and literally, and well known for his humor and friendship, with many of his friends having been in his life since childhood. Ernie was a man of many talents, from fixing the cars he loved to making intricate wood carvings and unusual drawings. A teacher at heart, Ernie spent many years coaching (and playing) basketball and instructing drivers on how to hit the apex at Road Atlanta. He also loved music, reading, classic movies, hamburgers, and dogs (who all loved him).
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents Marvel and Carridean; brother Bill; and brother-in-law Gene Storey. He is survived by his children Jeff Millsaps, Becki Millsaps, and Kelly Millsaps; former wife Ande Millsaps; sisters Judy Storey and Beverly (Don) McIntosh; sister-in-law Bettye Millsaps; and nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by countless friends who he considered family.
Funeral services will be held at a later date, to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ernie's memory to the American Cancer Society <
