Ernie Hurst

Ernest Price Hurst, Sr., age 76, of Powder Springs, Georgia passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021. Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 pm on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta. Interment will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.

Ernie was born in Houston, Texas, on January 23, 1945. He was proud to be a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in the Vietnam War and in Germany. He later served in the Air Force Reserve traveling back to Germany for a second time. Mr. Hurst married Nancy Carol Boggus Hurst, also from Houston. He and Nancy raised a family of three children, Jessica, Ernie, Jr. (Little Ernie), and Rob, spending time in Texas, Germany, and eventually in Norcross, Georgia. Ernie worked for RICOH as the Southeastern Regional Service Manager and retired after 20 years of employment. Once retired, Ernie moved to Powder Springs, Georgia.

He liked his subdivision where he met some good friends and served on the HOA board for a number of years. The weekly coffee hour with neighbors was something Ernie always enjoyed. In his retirement, he was passionate about his flower beds and container gardening, good food, and reading historical fiction and spy novels. Nothing made him happier than having get-togethers at his home with family and great food. Ernie truly loved his children and grandchildren more than anything else in this world, often calling them his treasures. He was someone everyone could always count on for help and level-headed advice. Ernie was preceded in death by his son, Ernest Price Hurst, Jr., in 2013.

Survivors include: son, Robert L. Hurst of Norcross, Georgia; daughter, Jessica Lyn (James) Lacoss of Savannah, Georgia; 4 grandchildren, Aaron Hurst, Tristan Hurst, Evan Carter Bridges, and Garland Bridges.
