Mrs. Ellen “Joan” Noland, 84, of Douglasville and more recently Dunwoody, GA passed away peacefully at home with her family on Sunday, September 8, 2019. Mrs. Noland had been retired for many years from a long career in the telephone answering service business. After retirement, she spent her time as the primary caregiver for her beloved husband, Bobby Eugene Noland, until his passing in July 2012. For the last 7 years of her life she had lived with her daughter Cindy LaGesse and her son-in-law Dan in their home in Dunwoody where she enjoyed reading, coloring, puzzles and her favorite past time, Hummingbird watching. She enjoyed family gatherings, trips to the beach and trips to casinos. She was a lifetime Braves fan and Georgia Bulldog fan. She was loved and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her sister, Rachel Pennington (Powder Springs, GA), her sister Betty and brother-in-law Dean Avant (Newnan, GA) and her sister Nancy Horton-Levy (Portland, Oregon), her daughter Cindy and son-in-law Dan LaGesse (Dunwoody), and her son Jimmy Oliver of Melbourne, Florida. Her grandchildren, Chris Fleming (Atlanta) and Jason and Kym Fleming (Marietta), her great-grandchildren, Madeline and Sarah Fleming and Sophia, Abbie and Charlie Fleming all of Marietta, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. A private family memorial service celebrating her life will be held in October with internment at the National Cemetery in Canton at a date yet to be determined.
