Eldon Ray Arnold, age 78, was welcomed into the arms of his heavenly Father on December 30th, 2022, at 3:39 PM. He was born July 22, 1944, to Dorothy (Miller) Boostrom and Estill Arnold in Monmouth, IL. They preceded him in death, along with one brother, James Arnold. Surviving are his beloved sisters: Mary Arnold, Jacqueline (Darren) Niles, and Christa Kay, and many loved cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Eldon attended Galesburg High School and graduated in the class of 1962. Eldon was a decorated high school wrestler and All-State football player who also made the All-American football team. His athletic accomplishments led to his induction to the Galesburg High School Hall of Fame in 2009. Although he would say his most outstanding achievement during those years at Galesburg High School was meeting the love of his life, Mrs. Beverly Jeanne Johnson. They married on November 7th, 1964, sharing 58 beautiful years. They leave a deep and abiding legacy and love for their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
They had two sons: Eric (Melanie) Arnold and Bradley (Amy) Arnold. Eldon was better known as "Poppi" to nine grandchildren, three married with their spouses, and four great-grandchildren.
Eldon began his career at Caterpillar in the factory in 1965, and over time he developed skills in programming and project management in the office. He was a long-time board member of CEFCU, and in 1992, he retired from Caterpillar and went to work at CEFCU full-time where in 1998 he took over as the President and CEO before retiring in 2006. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors for CUNA Mutal Holding company for nearly 13 years, including serving as Board Chairman for the final 4 years of his tenure. Additionally, he was appointed in 2004 to serve a 2-year term on the Federal Reserve Board's, Thrift Institutional Advisory Council, under Chairman Alan Greenspan's tenure.
Eldon was also known for his love, which was loyal and fierce. Eldon's family were recipients of this unwavering love he so often demonstrated. Over the years, he would frequent the stands of hundreds of sporting events for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, making himself known as their biggest fan. His support, love, and pride in them were without question.
Eldon carried a beautiful outlook on life that influenced how he lived. He used the phrase "patient tenacity" because he had earned the fruit of its labor in his life. Eldon chose to take the determined perspective that no matter the circumstances, you can have influence. That uncompromising grit carried him to unexpected places of achievement. He influenced and taught others how to live that same way.
Eldon saw himself as having lived a blessed, full life and was at peace with God's call home. Undoubtedly, those he leaves behind will feel as though the call came too soon. Yet, he will forever live on in our memories and hearts.
The family will be hosting a celebration of life service for Eldon at West Cobb Funeral at 2480 Macland Road, Marietta, Georgia, on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 2:00 PM. Prior to the memorial service, there will be a brief gathering time with the family at 1:00 PM.

2 Timothy 4:7-8 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."
