Edward Peter Burke

Edward Peter Burke, age 83, of Acworth, GA, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. A funeral mass will be held at 9am on Friday, June 21, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marietta with Monsignor John Walsh officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
As a Korean War Purple Heart recipient, husband, father and grandfather, he served his country and his family with love and honor. After 35 years in management with IBM, he retired in 1989. He will be remembered by all who were graced with his presence, humor and generosity. Rest in peace; you are loved.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Burke; children, Lawrence (Barbara) Burke of Acworth, William (Janice) Burke of Tennessee, John (Eileen) Burke of Mobile, AL and Lisa Burke of Acworth; sister, Elaine Prokesch of New London, CT and grandchildren, Nicholas Burke, Emily Burke and Brittany Clark.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions can be made to The National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016 or www.kidney.org .
West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory, 2480 Macland Road, Marietta is in charge of the arrangements.
