Edna Kittrell Kelly, age 95, of Kennesaw, GA passed away in her home at Wellington Place on July 7, 2014. Born in Phenix City, Alabama on May 1, 1919, she resided there for 90 years before moving to Kennesaw, GA to be closer to her family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Daisey Kittrell, her father, Albert Kittrell, two brothers, Harry Kittrell and Zeno Kittrell, two sisters, Ruth McKnight and Clara McGrew, and her late husband of 75 years, Harvey Kelly. Survivors include: son, William (Gail) Kelly, Kennesaw, GA; 3 grandchildren, Kathy (Quinn) Hall, Marietta, GA, Keith Kelly, Marietta, GA and Zachary Kelly, Kennesaw, GA; 3 great-grandchildren, Taylor Hall, Davis Hall and Carter Hall, all of Marietta, GA. Mrs. Kelly attended Brick School (grammar school) and Central High School in Phenix City, AL. She worked for Archer Hosiery Mills to support her family during the depression. She and her family were members of Trinity United Methodist Church since 1927. Her main vocation in life was dentistry. She was a dental assistant for Dr. Joe Hackle in Columbus, GA prior to working at Fort Benning, GA as a dental technician. She served as president of the Georgia Dental Assistants Association, and volunteered for many years with the Phenix/Columbus Regional Hospital Auxiliary and was awarded Volunteer of the Year for her work. The family wishes to express our special thanks to the staff of Wellington Place in Kennesaw, GA for the care and compassion they have shown over the past four years. Also, thanks to Homestead Hospice for their care and support during the last months of her life. Funeral Services will be held at 11am Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Riverdale Cemetery in Columbus, GA. The family will receive friends from 10am until 11am.
