Dovey Selena Hatcher Davis

Dovey Selena Hatcher Davis, 63, of Smyrna, died June 14, 2012.
She was a graduate of Mercer University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, cum laude. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, Beta Beta Beta National Honor Society in Biology and Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education.
She retired from the Paulding County School System where she was a teacher at Hiram High School.
Dovey is survived by her father, Otis Hatcher; her sister, Dee Ann Hatcher; her brother, Otis Hatcher, Jr.; children, Katie Davis Merrill and Wyatt Harrison Davis (Monica) and beloved grandchildren, Maggie Merrill, Mollie Merrill, Harrison Davis and Alexander Davis.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Douglas Roy Davis and her mother, Minnie Hatcher.
Of all the roles she filled in the lives of her family and friends, the ones to which she remained completely devoted were Mother and Grandmother.
Private services will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory, 2480 Macland Road, Marietta is in charge of the arrangements.
