Donald E. Politte entered into rest on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. His wife of 63 years, Joan C. Politte, his parents, Leo H. Politte and Cecilia M. Politte, and two of his brothers, Milton Politte and Paul Politte, precedes him in death. A native Missourian, he was born in DeSoto on October 14, 1928. He moved to Marietta, Georgia with his wife and two children in July, 1961 and lived in the area since that time. During that time, he had a career in banking and finance, and in his later years, owned his own real estate appraisal company. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus for over 43 years. Don also served as a Wellstar Hospital volunteer since 1997, accumulating more than 2,400 volunteer hours. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be dearly missed by family, friends, and neighbors. He is survived by one sister, Ruth Ann Fitzgibbons of California, one brother, Jim Politte of Missouri, his two daughters, Christy (and Jim) Shell of Kennesaw and Cyndi (and Steve) Woodruff of Acworth, four grandsons, Sean Fennelly (and Corinne), Joey Shell, Blaine Woodruff, and Grayson Woodruff and one granddaughter, Julie Shell, and two great-grandchildren, Abby and Ethan Fennelly. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 87 Lacy Street, Marietta. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 10am. Monsignor John Walsh will be officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held in Marist Hall at the church. West Cobb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
