Don Omer Smith, age 69, of Plainville, Georgia passed away Monday, April 22, 2019. Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA on Wednesday, May 1st at 11:30am.
Born in Atlanta, GA, Mr. Smith moved to Plainville, GA after living in Provo, Utah for over 30 years. He retired from a long career in Commercial Construction, and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mr. Smith was also a lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, having served as Exalted Ruler of the Provo Lodge # 849 from 1997 to 1998, and served as President of the Utah State Elks Association from 2007 to 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Doris Smith, a sister, a granddaughter, Brittany Smith, and 1 great grandson, Chanse.
Survivors include: Wife, Julie Ann Smith, Plainville, GA; 3 Sons, Jack (Robin) Smith, Temple, GA, Tony (Melanie) Smith, Douglasville, GA, and Brian (Tammy) Smith, Austell, GA; 2 Step Children, James B. (Charity) Dodson, Cottonwood Heights, UT and Megan VanWagenen, Orem, UT; Brother, Dennis Winston (Pam) Smith, Lithia Springs, GA; 15 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.
