Dewey Edward May Jr.

Dewey Edward May, Jr., age 86, graduated to his heavenly home on October 30, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 5, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1243 Belmont Avenue, Smyrna, GA with Pastor Doug Huggins officiating. Internment will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton at 2:00 pm. The family is very grateful for the outstanding service of West Cobb Funeral Home in handling all arrangements.

A native of Atlanta, he graduated from Grady High School after transferring from Brown High School. For many years he attended and was a member of the Baptist Tabernacle in downtown Atlanta. In the early 70's he moved his membership to Faith Baptist Church in Ellenwood until its closing. He then joined Bible Baptist Church of Hampton. Following his move to Marietta in 2015, he joined Calvary Baptist Church of Smyrna.

He served for 3 years in the U. S. Navy stationed at Key West, FL.
On Valentine's Day (February 14) of 1955 he married Barbara Jean Bass.

As a faithful provider for his family, he was employed by the Railroad Board, Container Corporation of America, in addition to being a Real Estate agent. Following retirement he drove as a courier for the Atlanta Allergy and Asthma Clinic.

Mr. May was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Bethany Danae Huggins (1987) and Kathryn Diane Huggins (2000). He is survived by his wife of 63 years Barbara of Smyrna; brother Allan (Tina) of Jonesboro; daughter Sheri (Doug) of Marietta; son Kevin (Tina) of North Augusta, SC; and daughter Marcia of East Point. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 5, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church at 10:00 am.
