Derek B. Townsend

Derek B. Townsend, age 52, of Powder Springs, Georgia passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Rev. Tim Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs, Georgia.

A lifelong resident of Cobb County, Derek graduated from South Cobb High School. He worked as a carpenter, and was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He loved to play his guitar, and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboy and Georgia Bulldog fan.

Survivors include: 2 Children, Derek Marshall Townsend, and Cecilia Marie Townsend (husband Robert Painter III), all of Carrollton, GA. Mother, Maxine T. McDuffie, Powder Springs, GA; 3 Siblings, Jeffrey Speights, Cedartown, GA, Joey Townsend, McDonough, GA and Susan Schroeder, Gainesville, GA; 2 Grandchildren, Aiden and Kailynn Painter; Many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
