Dennis Franklin Wellman, age 62, of Marietta, Georgia passed away August 27, 2019. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Seven Springs Church in Powder Springs. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta.
Dennis was born March 11th, 1957 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Mae and Julius Franklin Wellman. Dennis survived his older brother Fredrick who passed away in 1999. At an early age, Dennis accepted Christ and later joined Mountain View Church in Temecula, CA.
Dennis graduated from Woodward High School in 1974. After graduating high school, Dennis attended University of Cincinnati. While at the University of Cincinnati, he developed a strong interest in Information Technology and decided to pursue software development as a career. He not only had a strong passion for software development, he also had a very strong passion for bar-b-que. He loved the art of bar-b-queuing so much that he became a certified Kansas City Bar-B-Que judge. Shortly before his transition, he made his passion for bar-b-que and feeding family into a business, Papa D's Tenderlicious Que. Friends and family alike could not only taste how great the food was but that it was made with love.
In 1973, Dennis became a first-time father to his daughter Lanae. In 1981, Dennis met the love of his life Glenda Wellman at the University of Cincinnati. In 1986, on their lunch breaks, Dennis and Glenda were joined in marriage at the Justice of the Peace in Hartford, CT. To this union was born four children Katrese, Loryn, Dennis II, and Kristina.
Dennis is survived by his five children, four grandsons Jerome, Jerran, Robert Jr, and Augustus, and his two sons-in-law Robert Parker and Donnie Edwards. He is also survived by his close nieces and nephews Phyllis, Yolanda, Adrian, Jeratha, Freddy Jr., Jahmi, Gelisa, Keith Jr., Charity, Quita, Brittney, Darren Jr., Daraysha, Candace, Terri, and Steven Jr. Dennis is also survived by a host of close friends who are like brothers and sisters, and countless surrogate children.
