Dell Brown Dewberry, age 87, of Hiram, GA passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at 4pm on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Rev. Brian Alexander and Minister Dennis Dewberry officiating. Interment will follow on Monday at 1pm at Gwinnett Memorial Park in Lawrenceville, GA.
Born and raised in Albertville, (Marshall County) Alabama, she married Thomas Dewberry in 1944, and the couple settled in the Atlanta area. For the last ten years she had lived with her son and daughter-in-law in Hiram, GA.
Dell worked as a Food Service Assistant for a total 30 years for Dekalb and Walton County school systems. She was an excellent cook. She still attended her high school reunions, and enjoyed taking road trips with her best friend of 81 years, visiting with her sister, and attending weddings, showers, and beach vacations. She loved sharing memories of her childhood and the farm on which she grew up. Dell was preceded in death by her parents, Laura and Ben Brown, and her husband, Thomas Dewberry, to whom she was married for fifty-two years.
She is survived by two sons, Dennis (Susan) Dewberry and Keith (Amy) Dewberry; Sister, Mildred Sanders; two nieces, two nephews, various cousins, five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Donations may be made to the Sweetwater Baptist Church Building Fund in Douglasville. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2pm unil 4pm at the funeral home. Online guest book @
