David Allen Lupo passed away on the morning of Monday, October 4, 2021, at the age of 46. Dave grew up in Parma, a small town in southern Michigan, where he developed a love for comics, video games, role playing games, and board games. Even at a young age he was very technical minded and could pick up complex rules easily and explain them to others. His dad inspired an interest in technology and programming in him, and before long he was designing and coding games of his own. In late 2006, he left the Great Lake State to settle in Atlanta for its warmer climate and increased opportunities in his chosen field - software development. In his new home, Dave cultivated his passions and thrived as a successful software developer, published board game designer, and regular mentor for others seeking to grow in both.
Dave loved supporting others in exploring their passions, took a genuine interest in every individual he spoke to, and would not hesitate to drop everything and pull out every stop to help someone. He was devoted in his involvement with causes that were close to his heart, including suicide prevention, homelessness, and mental health awareness. His smile was infectious, his generosity unparalleled, and his love for the Lord and for others, tremendous.
Dave was as unique as the games he designed and lived as he played - by his own rules. In the game of life, Dave has leveled up, and leaves behind his loving wife Kayre, parents Jim and Nancy, brothers Pete and Mike, nieces Jesslynn, Amberly, and Clara, nephews Nick, Kris, Tony, and Elliott, and other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Atlanta Vineyard Church on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 10am, officiated by George Kelly. The family requests attendees wear either traditional dark colors, or honor Dave's memory by wearing his favorite color - yellow. Masks will be required. A livestream link will be provided at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation (
