Retired Captain David Austelle Farmer, age 72, of Douglasville, GA passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2015. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Lee Delbridge officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia Memorial Park in Marietta. Captain Farmer retired from the Smyrna Police Department in 2004 after 38 and 1/2 years of service, serving through the ranks. He was a former Chief of Detectives and did security at many sporting and special events throughout Cobb. A very proud moment came for Captain Farmer when a bronze statue of his resemblance was placed at the new Smyrna Police headquarters with the captions “The Protector”. Captain Farmer was instrumental at Christmas time in getting toys for those in need. He was a former member of Smyrna Christian Church and was a current member of New Genesis Baptist Church in Douglasville. David A.
