David Dillon

December 25, 1959 — February 25, 2024

Marietta

David Edward (Dave) Dillon, 64, passed away peacefully on Feb. 25, 2024, surrounded by family at his home in Marietta, Ga. He had battled bravely against neuroendocrine cancer for seven years.

Dave was born on Christmas Day 1959 in Montgomery, Ala., the fifth of eight children of Henry Joseph Dillon and Christine Eitzen Dillon. He spent his early years as an Air Force dependent in Japan and Virginia. The family settled in Mesa, Ariz., in 1971. Dave graduated from Westwood High School in 1978 and attended Arizona State University. He worked for seven years for Webb Plastering and for 37 years at Home Depot, beginning in the paint department and working his way up to Senior Manager of Building Services based at the corporate headquarters in Atlanta.

Dave met the love of his life, Pam Rosa, at a softball game in Mesa and within two months had asked her to marry him. They were married June 10, 1989 in Quincy, Ill., and raised two sons, Benjamin Patrick and Nicholas Matthew, in Mesa and Marietta. Dave enjoyed kayaking, sports, spending time with family, doing home improvement projects and caring for the yard. He was always happy to take a call from a friend or family member who had gotten stuck on a DIY project. He was proud of his work team and enjoyed watching them grow. In 2006 he won a custom Home Depot Chevy Tahoe for managing the store with the highest sales. Dave was known for his sense of humor, his work ethic and his dedication to friends and family. He was especially delighted by the births of his two granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Henry Joseph Dillon Jr.; sister-in-law Kyongsuk Dillon; sister Kathleen Webb; father-in-law Allen Rosa; uncle Leonard Gross and nephew Brett Rosa.

Survivors include his wife and sons; daughter-in-law Marissa Dillon; granddaughters Nora Laine and Evelyn Claire; mother-in-law Joanne Rosa; brother John (Lynn) Dillon; sisters Marie (Rich Gordon) Dillon, Margaret Dillon, Denise (Mark) Heffley and Allison Dillon; brother-in-law Alan Webb; sister-in-law Cindy (Scott) Dehart and brother-in-law Brad (Sharon) Rosa; aunt Carol Gross; nieces and nephews Tamara (Nic Glyshaw) Dillon; Theresa, Marie and Jeff Dillon; Rebecca (Alexis) Gourrinat and Joe Webb; Conrad Gordon; April, Noel and Sonnet Sakievich; Ross (Sami), Grant (Caitlin) and Cy Heffley; Patricia, Tina (Jeff Hendren), Hank and Melissa Langevin; Kayla and Jared Dehart; and Ryan (Mackenzie) Rosa; and great nieces/nephews Kenslie and Liam Glyshaw; Katie Webb; Maelenn Gourrinat; Carson Heffley; Owen Heffley; Willow Warner and Kaidence Rosa.

Per Dave’s wishes, a service project will be planned along with a celebration of life at a later date.
