David Eugene Boozer Jr.

September 10, 1940 — September 16, 2018

David Eugene Boozer, Jr., age 78, of Marietta, Georgia passed away Sunday morning, September 16, 2018. Interment will follow at Georgia Memorial Park in Marietta.

Born in Summerville, GA to Rev. and Mrs. David E. Boozer, Sr., Mr. Boozer was involved in the Boy Scouts, eventually earning the distinction as an Eagle Scout. Scouting also provided him the opportunity to usher football games at Georgia Tech in the mid 1950’s which ignited his love of Tech and the Yellow Jackets.

After high school, he attended North Georgia College, and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics. It was there that he met and married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Whiten. He served 4 years in the United States Army, and they then moved to Marietta in 1965. Mr. Boozer, while working full time, enrolled in post graduate studies at the “North Avenue Trade School,” earning a Master's Degree in Information Technology and Computer Science in 1971. Mr. Boozer was soon employed at the Southern Company and remained there for the rest of his working career, eventually retiring after more than 30 years of employment.

Mr. Boozer is most known and admired for his love of serving others. He volunteered at blood drives for the American Red Cross, helped build houses for Habitat for Humanity, and volunteered as a poll worker at Cobb County elections. As a member of both Calvary Presbyterian and Light of Hope Presbyterian churches, he served as elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member, Saturday work day leader, and many and any other roles.

Mr. Boozer loved gardening, loved attending Georgia Tech sporting events, loved music, loved boiled peanuts, pecan pie, and homemade ice cream. And in word and deed, Mr. Boozer loved his wife, loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved the Lord Jesus Christ who saved him and with whom he now lives eternally.
