Danny Clackum

Daniel “Danny” Lee Clackum, age 72 of Marietta passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 2 pm in the Chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory, Marietta with Rev. Welch officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Marietta.
Mr. Clackum was born in Atlanta and attended McEachern High School where he played baseball. He went onto play for the Boston Red Sox and ultimately returned to Cobb County where he played on many men’s teams and American Legion Teams. Danny was a pillar in the community and actively involved at Clackum Field on Due West Road. He retired from Coca Cola Bottling Company after 41 years of employment.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Eugene “Preacher” Clackum and Mary Ethel Southern Clackum. He is survived by his loving wife, Irene Clackum and children: Tracy Waldrop of Kennesaw, Ronnie Clackum of Dallas and John Clackum of Marietta; siblings: Chesley Clackum and Teresa Cook both of Kennesaw; grandchildren: Tyler and Lexie Clackum, Taylor Waldrop and Austin Waldrop; great-grandchildren: Cadence and Callaway Clackum.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 2 from 2-4 pm and 6 - 8 pm.
