C.W. Shelton

C.W. Shelton, age 87, of Marietta passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, April 15, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 18, in the Chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory, Marietta with Rev. Lee Mabry officiating. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park, Marietta.

Mr. Shelton was born in Tifton, raised in Madison, and has lived in Cobb County for over 60 years. He is a former active member of Antioch Baptist Church. He began working at The Varsity at age 16 before going into the United States Army. He retired in Customer Service at AC Delco, a division of General Motors, after 30 years. He loved traveling the West with his wife, Dorothy, and enjoyed deep sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and loved watching the Western Channel on TV.

Mr. Shelton is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Sally Shelton, and son, Joseph Timothy Shelton.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dickerson Shelton; children, Patricia Ann (Kyle) Purdy of Pikeville, TN, William C. (Tina) Shelton of Shannon, GA and daughter-in-law, Terry Peace Shelton of Locust Grove, GA; 2 sisters, Della Mae Williams of Barnesville, GA and Frances Harp of Vero Beach, FL; 5 grandchildren: Stacy Haynes, Casey Cognito, Beverly Jo (BJ) Talbot, Andrew Jacob Shelton, Kayla Shelton Wiggins; 8 great-grandchildren: Kaylee ,Sara, and Ella Haynes; Daniel Strickland, Arianna, Gianna, and Giovanna Cognito, and Emma Gracelynn Wiggins and nieces and nephews.
