Connie Limbaugh Free

On January 21, 2024, Connie Jane Limbaugh Free went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Connie was born on October 14, 1942 in Birmingham, Alabama. She stayed in the Birmingham area where she attended West End High School (WEHS), graduating in 1961. While attending WEHS, she met her high school sweetheart, Joe James Free. After graduation, she attended the University of Alabama for a brief time then married Joe on June 28, 1962.

Connie and Joe went on to have 2 sons, Joe Brayton (Brad) Free and Craig Michael Free. After spending all of her life in the Birmingham area, Connie and Joe moved to Panama City Beach in 1986 and remained there until 2019.

First and foremost, Connie loved her family and was a devoted wife and mother. Family was so important to her, that her own dreams always took a backseat to the needs of her family. During the time her children were living at home, Connie was a very loving and attentive stay-at-home mom. Once her kids were grown, she had a very long and successful career in retail sales where she was able to continue using her motherly skills by helping her customers pick out clothing and other personal items they needed.

Connie retired from retail sales in 2014 and subsequently moved to Georgia in 2019 to be closer to her granddaughter, Anna Christine Free. As devoted as Connie was to being a mother, that devotion went into overdrive when she became a grandmother. She and her granddaughter developed a very close and special bond that will keep them closely connected throughout eternity.  

Connie is preceded in death by her parents Carl L. Limbaugh and Doris A Limbaugh, father-in-law James M. Free, mother-in-law Christine K. Free, and sister-in-law Ann F. Nelson. She is survived by her husband Joe, her sons Brad (Cathy) and Craig (Robin), her grandson Josh (Sarah), her granddaughter Anna, her brother Carl M. Limbaugh (Margaret), her bother-in-law Robert W. Free (Sharon), Carl A. Free (Dorothy), and John Free and numerous loving, cousins, nieces and nephews.
