Clyde Ellen Manley (Ellen), age 88, of Decatur, Georgia passed away on August 1, 2019. Viewing/visitations will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the Hillcrest Church of Christ in Decatur, Georgia and 10:00am on August 9, 2019 at the Burnt Hickory Church of Christ with her homegoing service to follow right after in the auditorium. The interment will be at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
Ellen was born on April 21, 1931, in Campton, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Alvin and Ida Lela Morrow Ansley. She was one of 6 children. She married Nilas Odell Manley, on June 15, 1952. They were together for 56 years, until his death on June 28, 2008. Ellen and Nilas lived in several places during his military career; Washington State, Washington DC, Germany, El Paso, TX and finally settled back in Georgia after his retirement in 1965. Ellen and Nilas have 8 children, 19 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Ellen was known for her green thumb, being a skilled seamstress, baking wonderful pound and wedding cakes. She loved God with all of her heart and valued Christian education.
She is preceded in death by her brother; Alvin Ansley Jr. and survived by her children; Debra, Cathy, Mary, Nilas “Tony”, Norma, Connie, Chris and Joseph; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sisters; Mary Nell (Avery), Junette (Tibbs), Geloria (Phelps), Emma (Evans) and sister-in-law, Malise Ansley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
