Claudia “Paulette” Cheek, age 73, of Dallas, GA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, following an extended illness. Paulette was born on December 2, 1951, in Athens, GA daughter of the late John Henry Cheek and Jeanette Ellis Cheek. She is preceded in death by both her parents, and one sister, Teri Lynn Cheek. She was of the Baptist faith and an active member of the former Bethel Baptist Church of Smyrna, GA.

Survivors include her stepmother, Jane Duke Cheek of Blairsville, GA, brothers John E. Cheek (Deborah) of Gainesville, GA and Christopher D. Cheek of Dallas, GA, Nephew John P. Cheek (Rachel) of Macon, GA and niece Ashley Wood of Decatur, GA; one grandniece, Cora Anne Cheek, and many loving friends and cousins whom she loved dearly.

Paulette was a graduate of Campbell High School, Smyrna, GA class of 1969. She later attended Dekalb College earning an accounting degree, Class of 1991. She Joined Gold Kist Inc. in 1969 working as a devoted staff accountant until 2007. She joined Intervision Foods in 2008 and retired in 2015.

Paulette’s first love was Art. She wanted to be an artist from an early age and her enthusiastic creativity and imagination was demonstrated in her weavings, drawings, sketches, countless paintings as well as her annual Snowmen Christmas Cards. She joined the Paulding Fine Art Association in Dallas, GA, 25 years ago where she served as an avid board member. She was President of the Association from 2001 until 2008 and later served as Treasurer through 2024. Paulette was PFAA’s strongest advocate and worked vigorously to organize and promote the association’s programs throughout the community. 

Paulette loved her friends and extended family. Her faith, love and joy were contagious and a driving component of her love and devotion to her family, friends, and community. She always looked for the best in everyone. Paulette was known for her loving heart, generously giving to all family, friends, and acquaintances. Her art and kind memories will live long among all that loved her. 

The family would especially like to thank the staff at Wellstar Community Hospice for their loving care along with her friends that came to her side during that time. 

Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be on February 9, 2025, at West Cobb Funeral Home & Crematory 2480 Macland Road, Marietta, GA 30064 . The family will receive friends at 1:00. Services will be at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Paulding Fine Arts Association at 105 Village Walk, Suite 181, Dallas, GA 30132 or the American Cancer Society in Paulette’s memory. https://donate.cancer.org/?campaign=honormemorialpage
