Mr. Clarence Lamar Gibson, age 80, of Georgia passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013. Service will be 11am Monday, December 23, 2013 at Trinity Chapel Church of God in Powder Springs with Bishop Jim Bolin and Pastor Keith Bates officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. Mr. Gibson was a member of Lost Mountain Church of God and was a former Sunday School Teacher, Clerk, and Sunday School Superintendant. He was a former BSA Scout Master and an active Gideon.
Mr. Gibson, a retired FAA pilot, also flew for Cousins Properties and he was a flight Instructor at the Fulton County Airport/Brown Field. He was a member of the American Legion, a lifetime NRA member and served on the Board of Directors of the Church of God Theological Seminary. He was also formerly employed with Georgia Tech as the Gate Supervisor, Freshman Section, at Grant Field. Mr. Gibson is survived by his wife, Mary Gibson; Children, David and his wife Tami Gibson of Florida, Lynn and her husband, Ottis Bolin of Georgia, Kenneth and his wife, Tammi Melton of Alabama, and Carmen and her husband Tom Roberts of Georgia and his Sister, Mary Jo and her husband Paul Pealer of Missouri, sister-in-law Charlotte McCorkle of Georgia. 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Trinity Chapel Church of God from 5pm until 8pm. The family request Mr. Gibson be honored by donations to the Joshua Fund. Donations may be made at
