Christopher Lee Rooks passed away after battling brain cancer, on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at WellStar Tranquility Hospice with his mother by his side. Chris was born to Randy and Tess Rooks on October 29, 1980, in Atlanta, GA, and graduated from South Cobb High School. He completed a diploma program in computer science from the Bobby Dodd Institute.
Chris started out as a normal boy running and playing with the others. At age ten he was diagnosed with an AVM, crippling him. For the next better twenty years he had numerous surgeries that kept him going. He had a positive outlook on life and made a quick recovery each time. It wasn't until the last a tumor was discovered that proved too much even for Chris to recover from.
Even though Chris had never married and had no children, he made it his duty to see all children enjoy life. He did this through toys and games. This was not limited to children in that Chris always had time for all, he would listen and talk as long as you wish. For this reason he knew so many.
Chris had one of the hardest roads to travel and yet made it look the smoothest.
Chris had a physical disability, but his attitude never showed it. He was quick to let his younger relatives play with his wheelchair, and to spend his last dollar on games and toys for his nieces, nephews and cousins. Chris was a fan of WWE wrestling, video games and cartoons. Chris had intended to marry Cherrylyn Concoles once he recovered from his surgery,” like all the other times.”
He is survived by his parents, Randy and Tess Rooks; sisters, Tracy (Ed) Mason, Rachel (Odie) Tollefson; and brother James (Caitlin) Rooks.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 23 from 6 pm until 8 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory, Marietta. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, June 24 at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, Smyrna. Interment will follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park.
