Charles Cecil Smith, Jr.

Charles Cecil Smith, Jr., age 82, of Smyrna, Georgia passed away December 14, 2017. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Macland Road Church of Christ in Marietta with Minister Barry Gilreath officiating. Inurnment will be held at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park at a later date. He is preceded in death by his son, Charles Brian Smith.

Born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the son of Charles C.and Josephine Buttram Smith.

Mr. Smith served in the Army for two years and after marrying Elaine, relocated to Marietta, GA. where he worked for the Lockheed System of Georgia. He also worked as a construction contractor for many years. They settled in Smyrna, Georgia, where they lived and raised their three children for 48 years.
He was a faithful member of the Macland Road Church of Christ, where he spent his later years assisting his wife Elaine, in her job as Secretary of the Church.

Mr. Smith never met a stranger and his smile was contagious. He enjoyed spending time with his family, his Church family, and friends.

He leaves his wife of 58 years, Elaine (Hughes) Smith, his daughter Kathryn (Khalid) Sa'idd, his son, David (Sandy) Smith, his grandchildren, Taylor and David Smith, his Sister in Law, Kathryn Delay, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm at Macland Road Church of Christ in Marietta.
