Charles V. Reeves, late of Villa Rica, Georgia died Tuesday, January 3, 2023, surrounded by his loving children and grandchildren. He was born to Shelley and Mary Reeves in Pell City, Alabama on December 14, 1923. He was fortunate to celebrate his 99th birthday with gathered family and friends this past December. Prior to moving to Carroll County in 2000, he lived for decades in Cobb County, Georgia having moved his family there from Alabama in 1952. Mr. Reeves was in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II serving in the Pacific theater and participated in B-29 raids over Japan. Following the War, he served a number of years in the Alabama National Guard. He worked for over 35 years at Lockheed Aircraft Corporation, retiring in 1987. Mr. Reeves became a member of Tillman Methodist Church in Smyrna, Georgia shortly after its founding and faithfully attended services there for over 60 years. He was also Judge in several Atlanta area municipalities including Smyrna, Douglasville, Kennesaw, and Austell for many years and was a Mason and a member of the Shrine. Throughout his life, he consistently demonstrated his commitment and loyalty to the things that mattered most: faith, family, country and community.
Mr. Reeves was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Ella Mary Reeves, who died in November, 2011. He is survived by his son, Charles F. Reeves (Donna), and his daughter, Linda D. Carter (Danny) as well as his six grandchildren, Robert W. Carter (Laurie), Katherine R. Nardulli (John), Kathy Lynn Carter, Charles F. Reeves, Jr., Rebecca R. Lavergne (David) and Shelley M. Pattillo (Tim) as well as his nine great-grandchildren. He had two siblings, both sisters, Mattie Lou Harrison, of Birmingham, Alabama, who survived him and Francis Killingsworth, also of Birmingham, who predeceased him.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Georgia Memorial Park in Marietta in the Chapel Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 11th from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at Georgia Memorial Park.
