Charles Edward Pearson

On August 17, 1971, Charles Edward Person Jr., 50, was born to Charles Edward Pearson, Sr., and Merle “Janet” Ward in Peoria, Illinois. He died Tuesday, December 14, 2021.

He was previously married to Su Pearson, and they had four children. He is survived by his four children, Deon of Atlanta and Charles, Saniya, and Sumia of Tallahassee, Florida; two grandchildren, Aaliyah Pearson and Deon Pearson Jr., mother, Merle “Janet” Ward of Atlanta, brother, David Ward of Los Angeles, sisters, Sandra Brown of Davenport, IA, Terry (Tony) Stevens and Cathy Pearson of Waterloo, IA, Linda (Chris) Avery, of Bettendorf, IA and Deardra (Earl) Thomas of Rockford, IL, uncle, Phillip Ward of Peoria, IL, aunt, Ruccell Pearson of Waterloo, IA, longtime girlfriend, Regina Stevens of Atlanta, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

His father, paternal grandparents, Walter Pearson and Zula Person Curry, maternal grandparents, Merle and Mildred Ward, brother, Deon Pearson, sister, Sherette Pearson, and nephew, Carlos Pearson, preceded him in death.

Charles loved, enjoyed, and appreciated his family, especially his mother and grandchildren. He was very fond of his nieces and nephews. He affectionately called all of his older sisters, “Sissy!”

Our family will miss his kind, protective spirit, as well as his willingness to help others.
