Charles Edward McAllister, to most known as Charlie Mac, died peacefully on October 22, 2024. He was 90 years young.
Charles was born and raised in Clarkesville, Georgia as one of 10 children of Paul and Pearl McAllister. After graduating high school, he went on to serve in the navy. He proudly served on the USS Hancock during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he met and married his love, Marvine Mote. After marriage, they settled in Marietta in 1957. Charles was working for Lockheed at the time. While there, he was a member of their world champion softball team.
Over the years he held a few different jobs including Anderson Chevrolet, Noble Pontiac and Cadillac and Whitney Concrete company. He loved fixing things and building projects, so it was no surprise when he settled on his calling in home building. He was a perfectionist and the house wasn't complete until he pronounced it perfect. He was a sought after builder for over 40 years.
Charles was an avid hunter and fisherman that took him on many adventures with family and friends. And no one could quite tell a story about his adventures like he could. If you were ever privileged to be around when he was storytelling, you always remembered not only the adventure, but the enthusiasm and animation in which he told it! His love of the hunt took him to many different states. He loved the outdoors and could often be found sitting in a shady spot enjoying nature.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marvine. He leaves behind his children, Melinda (Kennon) Sanford and Tim (Johnna)McAllister. Sisters Marilyn (Vann) Wildes, Peggy (Joe) Smith and brother Dave McAllister. He also leaves a legacy that continues through 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
For his family and all who knew him, he will be greatly missed.
