Mr. Charles A. Chandler, also known as “Big Chuck”, was born on August 27, 1948 in Avon Park, Florida, as the second eldest of six children born to the late Henry Lee Chandler Sr. and Annie Mae Hardie. He departed this life Saturday, August 27, 2016, at the age of 68. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Norman “Rico” Chandler.
He worked for many years at the Mid Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center as a guard. He spent more than 30 years in New York.
Mr. Chandler served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In 2001, Mr. Chandler came to Hiram, GA with his wife Claudia (Ivory) Chandler.
Mr. Chandler is survived by his wife Claudia (Ivory) Chandler. His children: Dale Solomon (Anthony), GA., James Darryl Armstead (Monica), GA., Terence Armstead, GA., Charles E. Chandler (Carmen), NC., Chad A. Chandler (Tami), GA.
Brothers: Henry Lee Chandler, FL., Christopher Wright, FL., William Chandler, FL., Norman “Rico” Chandler (deceased), and Sister: Deborah Chandler, Finnikin, FL.
Grandchildren: Adam, Joseph, Malik, Ryan, Darius, Imani, Justyna, Zach, Terence Jr., Brycen, Teeva, Tyenne and Pierce.
Funeral Services will be held at 3pm on Saturday, September 3rd at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta. A repass will immediately follow the ceremony at the funeral home. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Online guest book @
